New era beckons for Northern Tigers
It will be a new look squad as the Northern Tigers embark on an exciting journey with the 2024 National Premier Leagues Women’s NSW competition set to kick off in early March.
Known as being one of the powerhouses of women’s football in NSW in recent years, the Northern Tigers will not only see new faces don the Tigers kit but also a new manager with Chris Wood taking control of first team duties.
Wood replaces Jake Stephenson who has made the switch as the assistant coach with Central Coast Mariners in the Liberty A-League Women’s competition.
Wood’s first job will be getting the Tigers back into the finals after missing out last season but also putting up another good Sapphire Cup run where the Tigers lost in the inaugural final to eventual winners APIA Leichhardt FC.
The side from North Turramurra have lost some key players including Ariella Cabezas, Teal Killbride and Mona Walker.
They’ve tapped into their New Zealand connections to bring in a trio of players, including Amy Hislop, Nicola Dominikovich and Charlotte Mortlock.
Also arriving at North Turramurra is the exciting Ameera Makunja from the Northern NSW NPL where she played with New Lambton.
The experienced Jessie Wharepouri and Beth Bernardi will call the Tigers home once more, as well as the young and talented Australian School Girl representatives Jodie Drever and Saffron Grass.
Round One kicks off for the Northern Tigers at home on the 3rd of March when they host NWS Spirit FC.
