Returning to the National Premier Leagues NSW Women’s competition, Bethany Gordon has wasted no time in lighting it up with the Macarthur Rams.
One of a number of Liberty A-League players that have recently made the move to NSW’s top tier of women’s football, Gordon has already scored two goals in three games.
But the midfielder isn’t new to the competition, last season Gordon helped the Rams to a dramatic penalty shoot-out grand final victory over the Northern Tigers.
It was a special day for the Macarthur Rams, securing their first piece of silverware since 2018.
For Gordon and her teammates, the feeling was no different.
“Last season was a feeling I’d been searching for for a while, to be able to look to my left and right and know that every player/member of that team and club along the way put 100% of themselves into achieving the Championship,” said Gordon.
“We did it all together.”
The squad has seen some changes since the 2022 Championship winning side with some of the next generation pulling on the Rams jersey.
“We’ve had a few changes to our squad following a successful last season, however I feel the depth we have this year is unmatched,” Gordon said.
“We are seeing this through some of the young girls that have come in and a few players returning to the Rams after stints elsewhere.”
Some of that next generation have already represented their country at junior level and are without doubt potential future Matildas.
“Our three young ones are probably the ones to look out for,” said Gordon.
“Indi (India Beier), Lobo (Maya Lobo) and Tegan (Tegan Bertolissio).
“The more experience they gain within our senior environment and against some quality sides in the competition, I feel we’ll be seeing them go to new levels over the coming months.”
With the help of these super talented youngsters, as well as a strong reserve grade and Under 18’s team, Gordon believes her team has the potential and depth to go back-to-back.
“I believe the squad we have from first grade all the way down to 18s is super competitive and we have every intention of using that to its potential and to take home the trophy at the end of the season,” concluded Gordon.
