We’ve seen sons follow in their father’s footsteps at football clubs, but at APIA Leichhardt, Vic Bozanic’s daughter Siahn has continued the family tradition.
Vic, a former Socceroo who played for APIA in the NSL in the 80’s, now has his daughter representing the surname in the National Premier Leagues NSW Women’s competition.
Siahn, a new signing at APIA, said that her father played an important role in her football up-bringing and was proud when she told him the news she would be playing out of Lambert Park.
“My dad used to train me and my brothers growing up so it’s feels good to keep the tradition going in the family,” Siahn said.
“He was really happy when I signed and of course he brought up his past and how he was at APIA.
“He loves bringing up his past days when he was playing, you can’t get him off the topic once he starts.”
Similarly, Vic added how proud he was of his daughter.
“It’s a great club and I’m very proud of Siahn playing for APIA, as the club has great history and Siahn will be a part of it,” Vic said.
“They love their football, they have won titles and have had great coaches and big time players at the club.
“Their club history speaks for itself.”
Having only been at the club for a couple months, Siahn has already experienced the greatness the APIA jersey carries.
“The club has a great history and I am proud to be a part of it,” Siahn began.
“The facilities are really good at APIA probably one of the best I have been at since playing in this league.
“The support from the coaching staff and club has been great and something that is well above anything I have experienced.
“It makes playing really enjoyable.”
There are a couple more Bozanic’s out and about the Australian football landscape with Louis Bozanic plying his trade in the NPL NSW Men’s competition with Spirit FC, while Oliver Bozanic wears the Red and Black of the Isuzu Ute A-League’s Western Sydney Wanderers.
Siahn believes that there is a chance both brothers might take after herself and Vic and throw on the famous maroon kit.
“There might be a chance of him coming down to throw on the jersey,” said Siahn of Oliver.
“My other brother Louis also plays in the league and will be up against APIA in two weeks time.
“You might be able to convince the both of them to make the switch.”
