Lacie Bowling might not be known by many yet, but this young rising female star is already making some noise in the National Premier Leagues NSW Women’s competition.
The 16-year-old this season swapped the sky blue of Sutherland Shire FA for the blue and white of Sydney Olympic with the aim of making a progressive step in her footballing career.
At 14, the young star amazingly made her first grade debut in the Football NSW League One competition with Sutherland.
“Last year I played Football NSW League One First Grade with Sutherland Shire Football Association (SSFA), I had been with SSFA for 5 years,” Bowling said.
After round one, Bowling made her debut in the NPL NSW Women’s competition but looked far from out of place, scoring on debut and making the first ever ‘Team of The Week’.
It would seem that Bowling has fit right into coach George Beltsos’ first grade set up.
“It’s exciting to be part of such a big club with so much history and opportunity. I feel really supported by the coaching staff and my teammates,” said Bowling.
Bowling is aware of what she needs to do to continue to improve and is looking forward to achieving these at Olympic.
“Some of my personal goals with Sydney Olympic is to improve my first touch and improve my ability to take on the opposition. Also, to learn as much as I can from my coaches and team mates to make me a better player,” said the Olympic winger.
In terms of team expectations, Olympic will take it slow and take it a game at a time.
“We have a very new team and we are just looking at games week by week. We want to win and compete in every game and we’ll see where it takes us. We’re working hard together as a team and challenging ourselves every session,” said Bowling.
Be sure to catch one of the next generation of future stars in Lacie Bowling as Sydney Olympic take on the Blacktown Spartans this Sunday at 5pm.
