On Sunday, September 1, the home of Football NSW will welcome the community in celebrating the outstanding women and girls playing in NSW’s top tier football competition as they battle it out across ten massive grand finals at the Female Football Festival.

This special, free event will host the National Premier Leagues NSW Women’s 1 and 2 Under 14’s all the way through to First Grade categories and will showcase the growing pool of exceptional talent coming through the ranks, as well as fan favourites from both the W-League, Future Matildas and Matildas.

Having a day solely dedicated to celebrating women’s football is something that is important to the growth, unity and promotion of the women’s game, which is why Football NSW is proud to both implement and host the Female Football Festival.

“The Female Football Festival aims to create a genuine football family environment. It is a culture that has existed for years and I believe is very important for the growth and solidarity of the Women’s NPL competition,” Football NSW’s Talented Player Program Administrator, Nadine Shiels said.

“With so many W-League players and current/ex-Matildas within our NPL competition, our young players have the opportunity to stay and watch the older grades compete, fuelling their ambitions to grow into better footballers, who are able to play at that level.

“Having these young athletes able to watch their role models play on a field that they also play on, make their dreams become an achievable reality.”

Family, friends, fans and spectators are what make the beautiful game, what it is, as Shiels explained.

“Supporting the women’s NPL competition, is an opportunity outside of W-League and International football matches for families, friends, and fans to watch and support their loved ones, closer to home.

“The excitement and joy it brings to these players, of having that support, adds volume to the atmosphere and culture that has been established.”

The Championship Trophy is on the line for these teams, but 2019 has been a big win overall for the Women’s NPL competition in NSW with the implementation of a standalone website and live-streaming of all first-grade matches, which Football NSW will proudly continue to invest in.

Football NSW look forward to the incredible atmosphere the community will create, as they cheer on the girls and women, battling to raise the trophy for 2019.
