Round 22 – National Premier Leagues NSW Women’s Preview

This is it, the last regular season round is now upon us.

The Premiership has been sealed, but who will be playing finals football? This weekend will be the do or die round several side hoping to make it past the weekend

Manly United FC vs Sydney University FC – Cromer Park 3.00pm Sunday 5th of August

Signed, sealed and delivered.

The Premiership cannot be taken away from the Sydney University side this weekend, and after the final whistle will be crowned the 2018 NPL NSW Women’s Premiers.

Their season will be one for the record book, just two losses this season and a unbeaten streak to match

While Manly United have certainly delivered this season.

The reigning champions have been able to stay within the top four the majority of the season, and undoubtedly have every intention of going back to back this season.

Although what can be expect from this fixture?

Win, lose or draw the visitors in Sydney University will still have their iconic yellow and blue ribbons decorated around the premiership trophy.

For Manly United however, their place within the finals is confirmed no matter how the results sway over the weekend. Although the win will always be a welcome commodity coming into the business time of year.

Blacktown Spartans FC v NWS Koalas FC – Blacktown Football Park 3.00pm Sunday 5th of August

The NWS Koalas are one of a few who seasons lies on this fixture.

A win for the side, and with the help of a few other results swinging their way and the Koalas could be lacing up their boots for the first weekend of finals. A loss, and for the North West side, that’s there season done.

Blacktown on the other hand, the weekend’s fixture will be a game of pride, to end their 2018 season campaign on a high note.

The Koalas were able to down the Illawarra Stingrays over the weekend in a thrilling match, but the visitors on Sunday will need to bring their A game from the get go to ensure they are able to secure the win.

Emerging Jets vs Sutherland Shire FA – Lake Macquarie Regional Football Facility 3.00pm Sunday 5th of August

A bottom of the table dual will determine who will be facing relegation at the end of the 2018 season.

It’s been a long tough road this season for these two sides, and one they would happily like to forget.

A win for either side could see them avoid the dreaded relegation saga.

The Sutherland side will make the trip North this weekend, in a bid to save their position within the league.

Northern Tigers FC vs Illawarra Stingrays FC – North Turramurra Recreation Area 3.00pm Sunday 5th of August

Unfortunately for the Northern Tigers, their 2018 season campaign will conclude some Sunday.

While for the Illawarra Stingrays, this Sunday will be a test of what the side will come to face ahead, coming into their finals campaign.

The Stingrays will be looking for the obvious win, to help cement a concrete place within the top five.

For the Tigers, it’s been a some time since their last victory. A win for the side will help see the Tigers finish their season on a high, despite missing out on finals.

Bankstown City FC vs Football NSW Institute – Potts Park 3.00pm Sunday 5th of August

Their finals hopes hang by a thread, anything less than a win could see the FNSW Institute side watching the finals series from the sideline

The youngsters will need to produce a flawless performance this Sunday, to ensure their place within the finals.

For Bankstown City, it’s been a tough first year within the top tier competition.

Just two wins in the bag for the Bankstown this season, the leap from NPL 2 has been a hard transition for the team.

The visiting girls in blue can’t accept anything less than a win this weekend.

North Shore Mariners FC vs Macarthur Rams Women’s FC – Valentine Sports Park 3.00pm Sunday 5th of August

To say the top of the table in the NPL NSW Women’s is congested is an understatement, just ask the Macarthur Rams.

Fourth in the competition, and a single point behind the third place superiors in Manly United FC.

For some time the premiership trophy held a tinge of the Rams maroon, although a heavy defeat and a tough draw has seen the side drop out of the race for the premiership.

The visitors much like their competitors will want to secure a victory, and finish their season on with another three points in their pockets
