The penultimate round of the PlayStation®4 NPL NSW Women’s competition is upon us this weekend.
With the top four sorted, we’re far from having our 2017 Premiers, with so much to play for in the remaining two rounds.
Sydney University v Macarthur Rams
The blockbuster between Sydney University and Macarthur Rams takes place on Sunday at Sydney University Football Ground at 4pm.
It couldn’t have been written any better with a direct clash to possibly determine the Premiership, with the Stingrays and Manly still to have their say.
Heather Garriock’s side has been performing well as key players return from injury, winning their last four straight matches.
With a game in hand, a win here will all but put them in the driving seat to secure yet more silverware for Sydney University.
The Macarthur Rams are in the box seat with two games to go, everything lies in their hands as they sit a top the competition.
With Kylie Ledbrook and the Rams attack in scintillating form, Norm Boardman will be confident his side can register a positive result.
The last time these two sides met, it was one of the best games of the competition, with the teams settling for a 2-2 draw.
NWS Koalas v Illawarra Stingrays
At ELS Hall Park, the North West Sydney Koalas host the Illawarra Stingrays.
The Koalas cannot make the semi finals but would love nothing more than to end the Stingrays Premiership hopes.
Stephen Peters’ team has the quality to do something in this one and they’ll be waiting for their chance.
For the Stingrays, they know that dropped points could really dent their hopes of finishing top of the league.
They’re a fine attacking outfit and that’ll be their strength on Sunday afternoon as they look to move into the final round of the season in the best possible position.
The Stingrays won the first clash between the two 3-1.
North Shore Mariners v Emerging Jets
The North Shore Mariners and Emerging Jets clash at Northbridge Oval.
For the Mariners, their finals hopes crashed last week after a heavy defeat.
The team and club can be very happy with their second half of the season and would like to complete this in the best possible way with a win on Sunday.
The Jets found it tough this term and will finish the season at the bottom of the table.
A win for them would mean much for the young side’s confidence.
The Jets won the first fixture between these two 1-0.
Manly United v Blacktown Spartans
The latest kick off on Sunday afternoon see’s Manly United take on the Blacktown Spartans at Cromer Park.
Only a win for Manly United keeps them in the hunt for first place and they’ll look to do just that.
Chris Williams’s side has a number of quality players across the park but the key for them will be top scorer Remy Siemsen.
It’s been a disappointing campaign for the Blacktown Spartans in 2017.
A team that promised so much with great off season signings fell away as the second half of the season started, resulting in only one victory in their last eight matches.
Manly was victorious in round eight, winning 3-1.
