Round 4 Preview – PS4 NPL NSW Women’s

It’s tight at the top after three rounds in the PlayStation®4 NPL NSW Women’s competition.

Three teams are locked on seven points with the Spartans rounding up the top four just a point behind the leaders.

Macarthur Rams v NWS Koalas

Lynwood Park will host the match of the round as the Macarthur Rams host the North West Sydney Koalas.

The Rams have enjoyed a fantastic start to the 2017 season, yet to lose and sitting in equal first place on the ladder.

Sunday’s match will be one of their biggest tests of the season so far but victory will underline their intentions.

Last year’s runners up, the Koalas, are yet to record their first win of the season but were mighty close last week.

Stephen Peters will be looking for a similar first half to that from last week against Uni but his team needs to start registering results before the gap widens too far.

Northern Tigers v Emerging Jets

Northern Tigers take on the Emerging Jets at North Turramurra Recreation Area on Sunday afternoon.

It’s a battle of the winless and a chance for both sides to register their first wins of the new season.

After a heavy first round defeat, the Tigers have showed real fight in them, taking points from two of the best teams in the competition.

They may see this an opportunity to score win number one.

The Jets have found it tough so far this season but will also see their chances in Sunday’s clash with the Tigers.

Tightening the defence will be the young side’s number one aim.

Football NSW Institute v Sydney University

Valentine Sports Park will host the top of the table clash between the Football NSW Institute and Sydney University.

The last time these two met was in the preseason cup final, a day the young Institute side would rather forget, having let slip a commanding lead and eventually losing to Uni.

Craig Foster’s outfit dropped their first points last week in a scoreless draw against the North Shore Mariners.

The Institute was many peoples dark horse for this season and they’re showing exactly why.

Heather Garriock was not happy last week and felt her side may have dropped two points rather than taking one.

Uni will look to stamp their authority on the competition and a win on Sunday will do just that.

Blacktown Spartans v Illawarra Stingrays

Slightly later kick off at 4pm on Sunday takes us to Blacktown Football Park as the Blacktown Spartans take on Illawarra Stingrays.

The Spartans have started the season well, picking up two wins in three matches and sitting in fourth place.

It was the Stingrays first win of 2017 last week and they move into this game full of confidence and ready to build on that.

This will be an intriguing fixture between the two and the result could go either way.

Manly United v North Shore Mariners

At Cromer Park on Sunday at 4:30pm Manly United host the North Shore Mariners in the North Sydney derby.

It hasn’t been the start that Manly would’ve expected beginning the 2017 season.

Chris Williams will call for calm from his girls, knowing how much quality they possess in all parts of the pitch.

The Mariners have managed to win, draw and lose in their first three matches and sit smack bang in the middle of the table.

A win will keep them just a step behind the leading pack.
