Round 13 Preview – PS4 NPL NSW Women’s
The Macarthur Rams are marching toward the 2017 PlayStation®4 NPL NSW Women’s Premiership with six games remaining.
North West Sydney Koalas v Macarthur Rams
At ELS Hall Park on Sunday, the North West Sydney Koalas take on table topping Macarthur Rams.
Six games without a win has Stephen Peters and his Koalas worried.
A loss here could see them drop nine points behind the finals places and could spell the end of their hopes.
The Rams look to be running away with the premiership, having only lost once in their last eight starts.
It seems the whole team has hit form at the right time of the season and Norm Boardman will be pleased how the girls are playing.
It was the Koalas that surprised the Rams in round four and they’ll be hoping to do the same again.
Illawarra Stingrays v Blacktown Spartans
It’s a six-pointer at JJ Kelly Park as the Illawarra Stingrays and Blacktown Spartans do battle.
The Stingrays were on quite the run until the Manly United threw a spanner in the works.
It was a shock heavy defeat and Brett Wallin will be keen his side bounce straight back on Sunday.
For the Blacktown based side, they were falling down the ladder at a rapid pace having been in the hunt for the premiership only a month ago.
Last week’s victory would’ve seen the confidence rise for the Spartans, snapping a four game losing streak.
The Stingrays came away with a 3-2 victory from Blacktown Football Park earlier in the season.
Emerging Jets v Northern Tigers
The battle between the bottom two takes place at Lake Macquarie Regional Football Centre on Sunday afternoon.
The young side from the Hunter region continues to fight hard and push all opponents to their maximum.
They’ve lost four on the bounce but will feel confident of getting something on Sunday afternoon.
For the Northern Tigers, they head into this clash coming off the back of a solid month of June.
Results have improved and a win here will only reiterate the progress they have made.
It was a 3-0 win for the Tigers in round four.
North Shore Mariners v Manly United
At Northbridge Oval, the North Shore Mariners take on Manly United.
The Mariners are the form team of the competition at the moment and have everyone looking back in awe.
Three straight wins see them in seventh place, only four points away from a finals place and they can’t afford to drop anymore points.
United are only six points away from first spot and won’t give up on their hopes of sneaking the premiership.
Only one loss since round four has United also in good form and builds this one as a local blockbuster.
It was one-way traffic the first time they met with Manly winning 5-0.
Sydney University SFC v Football NSW Institute
Sydney University face the Football NSW Institute at Sydney University Football Ground on Sunday.
The home side are desperate to keep their chase alive of first placed Macarthur Rams.
Any dropped points will more or less see Uni fall off the pace and lose their chances of back-to-back premierships.
The Institute are fifth with a game more than their opponents.
Craig Foster’s team must win to stay near the top four spots and the young side can take nothing less on Sunday.
It was a convincing 5-1 victory for Uni the first time these two met.
