Hills United got back to winning ways in the National Premier Leagues Women’s NSW competition with a commanding 3-0 victory over Sydney University SFC on a crisp Sunday evening at Sydney Uni Football Ground.

They showed grit and determination at both ends of the park, deservedly taking home all three points.

Libby Morris’ first half double had United on their way, while Neve Burns made sure of the points in the second period.

The home side started the game better, holding possession for the most part of the opening five minutes, the first chance falling to Emilia Murray who lifted it just over the bar.

On 10 minutes Aya Seino thought she was in on goal for Hills United, only for Sarah Farrow to make a fine last ditch sliding challenge.

It took almost 20 minutes for the next opportunity as Tiana Jaber released Seino, shooting low, the striker effort was well saved by Scarlett Gray.

The visitor’s had the lead on 33 minutes.

First Seino forced an error from Seino before Gray saved her effort. Again Uni failed to clear their lines, Seino dropping the ball off for Libby Morris who placed her effort into the bottom left corner.

Five minutes later and Hills were cruising as Morris grabbed her second.

An in swinging corner was not dealt with by Uni the defence in the six-yard box as Morris reacted quickest, lifting the ball over Gray and into the back of the net.

Five minutes after the break the home side almost halved the deficit. Maddie Iro got a little too comfortable in the Hills goal, clearing a ball out to the feet or Murray who tried to lift the ball into an empty net, unfortunately for her and the Students’, cleared the goal.

Hills’ first chance of the second half came soon after, Seino’s snap shot going into the side netting.

Asha Sutton on so many occasions this season has been Uni’s go to and was almost it again, this time lifting her shot from the left over the bar.

Uni’s pressure continued, somehow Hills clearing their lines via Neve Burns after a Jenny Hill header.

Just after the hour mark, Burns went from saving a goal, to scoring one and extending the lead to 3-0.

Aya Seino showed fantastic skill and vision to release Burns, bursting through one on one and slotting the ball beyond Gray to take her season league tally to four goals.

The home side had a chance after a through ball by Murray for Maddie Van Dijk, only for another important defensive block by Hills.

A lovely team move by Hills almost saw them extend their lead to four, Natalie Casha’s effort after the exquisite build up rebounding off the bar.
