National Premier Leagues Women’s NSW side Western City Rangers FC are primed to make a strong statement in 2026, putting their hands up for a genuine tilt at silverware following an impressive debut campaign in the top flight last season.

After earning promotion into NPL Women’s NSW in 2025, the Rangers wasted no time announcing themselves, finishing as runners-up in the Sapphire Cup and proving they belong among the state’s elite. Now re-energised following a full club brand overhaul and entering a new era post-Leena Khamis, Western City Rangers are setting their sights even higher.

A major boost ahead of the new campaign is the appointment of head coach Milan Jovanovic, who arrives with high expectations and a talented, well-balanced squad at his disposal. With a mix of experience, youth, and international flair, the Rangers are shaping as one of the competition’s most exciting outfits.

Adding a global edge to the squad are two marquee international signings. Brazilian midfielder Gabriela Silva Batista brings flair and creativity, while American attacker Trista Seara is expected to add firepower and attacking intent as she looks to make her mark on the league.

The Rangers have also strengthened significantly across the park, welcoming a host of new faces including experienced defender Alexandra Huynh, midfield general Trudy Camilleri, and a talented group featuring Claire Holder, Maryam Mostaghimi, Ivana Galic, Charlotte-Paige Jonsson, Asiyah Zreika, Brianna Clarke, Jakeelie Hook, and Jirelle Boutros, each poised to play a key role in what promises to be a big season.

At the back, stability remains a cornerstone of the side, with long-serving goalkeeper Renee Krstanovska returning for another year between the sticks. She will be joined once again by Holly Williams, while Jordanian international Roukayah Al Fararjeh adds valuable experience and depth to the squad.

Western City Rangers’ first test of the campaign comes in Round 1 against UNSW FC at Popondetta Park on Sunday, 8 March, in a clash that looms as one of the matches of the round.

With momentum, ambition, and a refreshed identity, the Rangers will be eager to start their 2026 campaign with intent and show they are ready to challenge the competition’s heavyweights.
