The only way is up for Jasnos and APIA

Ahead of their clash with Gladesville Ravens this weekend, Football NSW spoke to rising APIA Leichhardt FC star Jordan Jasnos on her side’s recent form.

APIA have had a mixed season so far in the NPL Women’s NSW competition, with last years grand finalists sitting seventh on the ladder, six points off the top of the table and two points off top four.

After a difficult start to the season, they are unbeaten in five games – an impressive run of form leading into the business end of the campaign.

“At the moment we’re really getting stuck in at training, working hard for each other and gelling as a team,” said Jasnos on APIA’s strong run of results.

“That said, there are always ways we can improve on the field.”

The recent run of form has corresponded – not coincidentally – with Jasnos’ introduction into the starting team; she has started all of the last six games.

Playing in an unfamiliar position, she has excelled for APIA, outlining her intelligence, adaptability and quality on the field.

“I am pleased Brad (Attard) has trusted me with a starting spot in the team,” she said.

“We have many talented players here at APIA and hopefully, with the way I have been playing, this is a way to repay him.

“Playing in the backline is not a position I am used to but I am loving it at the moment.

“I’ll play anywhere on the field given the opportunity.”

Looking ahead, Jasnos is focused on retaining that starting position, and giving her side the best chance to go one better and win the Grand Final in 2025.

“My goals for the rest of the season are to keep a starting position in the team,” she said.

“To continue to work hard and to improve each week for myself and the club.”

This weekend, APIA will take on Gladesville Ravens, and if results go their way, they could end the round in the top four.

It’s a massive game for the NPL Women’s NSW giants, as they look to make it six matches unbeaten in the league.

“Gladesville have had a few wins so far this season, any team on their day is a threat,” said Jasnos on this weekend’s match.

“Looking ahead, we will aim for maximum points in the remaining games to cement our spot in the top four.

“With the team and coaching staff we have we should settle for nothing less.”
