Christie Park was the venue for a fabulous evening of football on Saturday night and a very special jubilee for one of its finest stars in Nat Tobin.
Loyalty is tough to come by in our beautiful game but for over 10 years, Nat Tobin has only worn two emblems and two colours on her chest.
In the A-League Women’s, it been Sydney FC, in our very own National Premier Leagues NSW Women’s competition, it’s been the North West Sydney Spirit FC.
On Saturday evening, Nat Tobin played her 150th game in the yellow of her beloved NWS Spirit FC kit against the Northern Tigers.
“It’s very exciting, feels like almost more than that because I’ve been here for so long and I’m glad I’ve been able to do it at one club,” Tobin said.
Despite having various offers from a range of different clubs, Tobin is happy with life in Sydney’s North West.
“It’s a great family club, I have been here since the juniors and I value loyalty pretty highly so I’ve been at the Koalas and Sydney my whole career,” the midfielder said.
“I don’t really like chopping and changing and they (Koalas) have always treated me well.”
Tobin wears the armband at the Spirit and is a real leader both on and off the pitch.
“We have a great bunch of girls and I don’t really need to do much as we have such a great atmosphere in the squad,” said Tobin.
Spirit hasn’t made the finals in a few seasons but Tobin believes this could be the year to turn it around.
“We’ve recruited well this season by bringing in a few girls from the Newcastle Jets and Canberra United,” the Spirit captain said.
“We haven’t spent much time together because of the A-League Women’s and COVID but if we all gel, we could do really well.”
“We definitely want to play finals, that’s a step in the right direction and will make it an enjoyable season.”
Congratulations to Nat Tobin on an incredible milestone with many more appearances, goals and success to come.
