It was a high-scoring weekend of action in Round 22 of the National Premier Leagues Women’s NSW competition, with plenty of entertainment and memorable moments across the seven fixtures.

With the finals race continuing to heat up and clubs fighting for crucial points at both ends of the table, there was plenty to play for across the weekend.

Match of the Round – APIA Leichhardt 2-2 Bulls FC Academy

APIA Leichhardt held league leading Bulls FC Academy to a 2-2 at Lambert Park on Sunday evening in the National Premier Leagues Women’s NSW match of the round.

The home side managed to claw themselves back into the fixture two time after the Bulls lead 1-0 and 2-1.

The Dos Santos sisters were both on the scoresheet for the Bulls as both Indi and Jynaya found the back of the net.

For the home side, Ash Letta added another to her vast collection of goals while Tash Prior got the other.

Northern Tigers 1-1 Hills United

North Turramurra Recreational Area

Northern Tigers entered Round 22 with a slim chance of making the top four, while Hills United were searching for valuable points to maintain their distance from the relegation battle.

The visitors made the perfect start, taking the lead in the 13th minute through Aya Seino.

Seino showed excellent awareness and improvisation, backheeling a loose ball into the near post to give Hills United the advantage.

The Tigers responded strongly after the break and found their equaliser in the 71st minute.

Amelia Feeney delivered a looping cross that caught the goalkeeper out, with the ball eventually finding the back of the net to ensure the points were shared.

Illawarra Stingrays 0-1 Sydney Olympic

The Pond

Illawarra Stingrays entered the contest searching for a turnaround after a difficult run of results, while Sydney Olympic were looking to continue their recent improvement.

Olympic opened the scoring in the 20th minute through Giuliana Nicholas.

Bella Voisey-Youldon produced an excellent cross into the penalty area, allowing Nicholas to take the ball in her stride before turning and firing a powerful strike into the top-right corner.

The remainder of the match was a tight contest, with Illawarra pushing for an equaliser, but Sydney Olympic remained disciplined defensively to secure all three points.

Gladesville Ravens 0-5 Macarthur Rams

Christie Park

Gladesville Ravens entered the contest looking to continue their strong recent form in front of their home supporters, while Macarthur Rams were aiming to find consistency and build momentum.

The Rams made the perfect start, taking the lead in the fifth minute through Amelia Cassar.

Cassar produced a stunning strike from distance, with the effort bouncing in off the underside of the crossbar to give Macarthur an early advantage.

Claire Corbett doubled the lead in the 19th minute with a well-taken half-volley before Eliza Ammendolia added a third 10 minutes later.

Ammendolia initially struck the post before reacting quickest to the rebound and firing past the Ravens defence.

Macarthur continued their dominance, with Sakura Nojima making it 4-0 in the 36th minute after timing her run perfectly to finish at the back post.

Marcella Santos completed a brilliant first-half performance from the Rams with a classy improvised finish in the 41st minute.

Macarthur maintained their 5-0 advantage after the break, managing the contest professionally to secure a comprehensive victory.

UNSW FC 2-2 Manly United

The Village Green

UNSW FC and Manly United met in a rematch of the recent Sapphire Cup Final, with both sides needing points for different reasons.

UNSW were looking to remain in the Premiership race, while Manly needed a positive result to keep their top-four hopes alive.

The hosts opened the scoring in the 23rd minute when Chloe Smith reacted quickest inside the penalty area to finish a brilliant square ball from close range.

Manly responded eight minutes later, with Sienna Dale breaking through before calmly finishing an attacking move to level the scores.

The visitors completed the turnaround after half-time, with Ellie Kerr producing a confident finish through a crowded penalty area to put Manly ahead.

However, UNSW refused to surrender and found their equaliser in the 75th minute.

Milan Hammond showed excellent attacking instincts, rounding the goalkeeper before calmly rolling the ball into an empty net to ensure the match finished 2-2.

Sydney University SFC 1-2 NWS Spirit FC

Sydney Uni Football Park

Sydney University and NWS Spirit entered their Sunday clash searching for three points, with the two sides arriving in contrasting runs of form.

Spirit produced an outstanding opening half, racing to a 2-0 lead inside the opening 20 minutes.

Skye Halmarick opened the scoring with a strike from distance that bounced awkwardly and found its way beyond the goalkeeper.

Tiana Fuller then doubled Spirit’s advantage when her cross turned into a shot on goal, flying over the goalkeeper and into the back of the net.

Sydney Uni responded after the break and reduced the deficit in the 65th minute through Poppy Tay, who produced a composed finish.

However, it proved to be only a consolation as NWS Spirit held on for a valuable three points.

Western Sydney Wanderers 9-1 Western City Rangers

Wanderers Football Park

The Western Sydney derby produced a dominant display from Western Sydney Wanderers, who defeated Western City Rangers 9-1 at Wanderers Football Park.

Allyssa Ng Saad opened the scoring early, finishing confidently in a one-on-one situation with the goalkeeper.

The Wanderers doubled their advantage soon after through Alvina-Marie Khoshaba, whose long-range strike found the back of the net.

Ng Saad added her second in the 31st minute with a poacher’s finish before the hosts produced a devastating late burst before half-time.

Amelia Bennett scored a sensational half-volley into the top corner in the 39th minute before Ng Saad completed her hat-trick two minutes later with a composed curling finish.

Talia Younis then capped off a dominant first half with a simple finish into an open net in the 45th minute.

Western City Rangers responded after the restart, with Clare Holder producing a well-taken chip to score for the visitors.

However, the Wanderers quickly regained control, with Ng Saad adding her fourth goal of the night in the 64th minute following a brilliant one-two combination.

The striker completed a remarkable five-goal haul in the 80th minute, reacting quickest after two previous attempts were blocked before finishing the follow-up.

Madena Moussa completed the scoring in the 82nd minute with a well-placed curling effort, sealing a dominant 9-1 victory for the Wanderers.
