Macarthur Rams snatch stoppage-time winner in thrilling 3-2 comeback over Northern Tigers

The Macarthur Rams produced a dramatic late turnaround at Lynwood Park, scoring deep into stoppage time to defeat the Northern Tigers 3-2 in a gripping National Premier Leagues NSW Women’s clash.
In a match packed with momentum swings and attacking intent, the Rams snapped a four-game winless run courtesy of a 95th-minute header from Megan Mifsud, capping off a resilient second-half fightback.
The visitors made a dream start, striking inside two minutes when Ellie Head capitalised early to give the Tigers a quick advantage.
But the Rams responded almost immediately, with Gabrielle Sarkis finishing a well-worked move in the 14th minute to level the contest.
Parity lasted only moments, as the Tigers hit back again through Tanaye Morris, restoring their lead in a frantic opening 20 minutes that set the tone for a high-tempo encounter.
Both sides continued to create chances in an end-to-end first half. Sarkis went close to adding a second, while Morris and Lily McMahon threatened at the other end, and the Rams were denied a late equaliser when Mifsud rattled the crossbar just before the break.
After halftime, the Rams gradually grew into the game, with substitute Amelia Cassar providing real energy and creativity down the right.
The pressure eventually told in the 70th minute when fellow substitute Sakura Nojima arrived in the box to finish Cassar’s dangerous delivery and bring the Rams level once again.
From there, the home side pushed for a winner, with Sarkis, Nojima and Cassar all forcing key saves from Northern Tigers goalkeeper Olivia Riddel, who kept her side in the contest with a string of important stops.
Just when it looked like points would be shared, Cassar delivered once again in stoppage time, swinging in a pinpoint free kick in the 95th minute. Mifsud rose highest and powered a header beyond Riddel to complete a dramatic comeback and spark celebrations for the Rams.
The late strike sealed a vital three points for Macarthur Rams, while the Tigers were left to rue missed opportunities after a strong attacking performance.
