New Faces, New Chapter for Sydney University SFC in NPL Women’s NSW

Sydney University SFC are preparing for the upcoming National Premier Leagues Women’s NSW season with a refreshed squad and a renewed sense of purpose as they look to remain competitive in one of the country’s most demanding women’s competitions.
Under the guidance of new head coach Xavier Taylor, the Students have introduced several new faces as they shape their squad for the season ahead. A number of signings have committed to Sydney University SFC, with Emma Lefebvre, Kira Haverkock, Rebecca Cousins, Gigi Freeman, Claudia Pickett, and Sophia Kelleher joining the club as it enters a new chapter.
The 2026 campaign also marks a period of transition, with several experienced players moving on during the off-season. Goalkeeper Sophia Fante headlines a list of notable departures, alongside Amelia Feeney, Talia Kapetanellis, Jamie Beaufils, Baylee Broomhead, Jennifer Kokoris, Charlotte Hogan, Giuliana Nicholas, and Ruby Egan-Brown, all of whom have taken up opportunities with fellow NPL Women’s NSW clubs.
Despite those departures, Sydney University SFC retain a strong core of players capable of stepping into key roles this season. Charlotte Owen, Alice Thompson, Tahliya Sambrook, Amelia Kirby, Poppy Tay, Isabella Raad, Nour Hijazi, Hannah Callaghan, Jenny Hill, and Em Brewster are among those expected to play an important part as the Students look to build consistency and momentum throughout the campaign.
With a squad featuring a balanced mix of experience and new additions, Sydney University SFC will be keen to test themselves early against one of the competition’s benchmarks. Their opening assignment is a challenging one, travelling to Lambert Park to face a star-studded APIA Leichhardt FC side on Sunday, 8 March, in a Round 1 clash that will provide an early indication of where the Students stand.
As the season unfolds, Sydney University SFC will look to draw on their depth, adaptability, and collective spirit as they pursue a strong and competitive NPL Women’s NSW campaign.
