Krstanovska flying high with the Rampaging Rangers

With her side top of the National Premier Leagues Women’s NSW competition, we spoke to star Mt Druitt Town Rangers goalkeeper Renee Krstanovska on being promoted from League One and her sensational season so far.
Mt Druitt joined the top flight this year from the League One Women’s competition where they enjoyed much success which also saw them pick up a stunning 5-0 Grand Final win over St George FC.
“I think it’s a massive achievement to be the best team all year and winning the Premiership would have been huge for the club,” said Krstanovska on last season.
“But winning the Club Championship shows the depth we had as a squad and I know in the end that’s what mattered more.
“Winning the Grand Final is always nice to add the cherry on top and you really can’t top those memories.”
Up in the NPL Women’s NSW competition, Mt Druitt have been an instant success, currently sitting top of the ladder with eight wins, two draws and just one defeat from their opening 11 games.
“I think us as a squad have really enjoyed the new challenges we are facing,” said Krstanovska.
“Every team in this competition can be top of the table it all comes down to how you show up for the 90 minutes.
“The girls have put in week in week out and our results are a credit to our work ethic.”
The goalkeeper has been key to her side’s success, making countless crucial saves to earn Mt Druitt key points.
With just 10 goals conceded, Mt Druitt have the best defensive record in the competition, and Krstanovska was humble when asked about her exploits so far this campaign.
“I think this season has also been a tough challenge for me as I haven’t been in the top flight for a few years now,” she said.
“It is good to be back and facing really quality players.
“I’m happy to continue to challenge myself, but the girls honestly make my job easy a lot of the time and the chemistry we have built up over the last few years shows on the pitch.”
This weekend, Mt Druitt will take on NWS Spirit FC in what looks set to be an exhilarating top four clash, with the current league leaders looking to retain their top spot under heavy pressure from the sides just beneath them.
When asked about their goals for the season, Krstanovska was quick to supply a defining objective.
“We are 100% going for silverware this year, we can see the path to get there and we will continue to take each game as it comes and hopefully that keeps us in the race for finals!”
