The Skye’s the limit for Halmarick

Ahead of NWS Spirit FC’s big game against Northern Tigers this weekend, 17-year-old sensation Skye Halmarick spoke to Football NSW about her staggering season so far.

The teenage striker has had an astonishing start to her campaign, netting 13 goals in just 10 matches – the most goals scored by any National Premier Leagues Women’s NSW player in 2025, four clear of second place.

“It has been a really rewarding start to the year, especially after coming back from injury last season,” said Halmarick on her goalscoring form.

“I missed a lot of football, so just being back with my team has made the start of the season so enjoyable.

“Being able to score goals has obviously felt great, but the support from the girls and the club has made the difference.”

Halmarick has been undoubtedly crucial to Spirit this season, netting an astonishing 76.5% of her team’s goals this season – 13 of Spirit’s 17 in the league.

I’ve been at Spirit for nearly 10 years now, so it’s a club that means a lot me,” Halmarick said when asked about her importance to her beloved side.

“To be given this opportunity this season and to play a bigger role within the team has been a proud moment for sure.”

While she’s been consistent all season, her form has gone to another level in recent weeks, with Halmarick scoring eight goals in just three games to take Spirit to victories over Sydney Olympic, APIA Leichhardt FC and the Western Sydney Wanderers.

In her last two matches, she has scored all five of Spirit’s goals, including a hat-trick against the Wanderers last weekend.

“Scoring a hat-trick last week was such a great feeling,” she said.

“We have been working on set pieces throughout our trainings, so being able to see that correlate to our games has felt extremely rewarding for everyone.

“We celebrated the win, but we know there’s still a long way to go in the season.”

With three wins in a row, Spirit are in a good position in the league, currently sitting fourth, three points clear of Northern Tigers in fifth – their opponents for the weekend.

The fixture will be crucial in Spirit’s race for finals, where a win would keep them in the top four, while pushing a rival further away.

It’s a big game for sure, and we know Tigers will come out strong,” said Halmarick on the match.

“Each week I just try to play my role for the team and contribute in the best way that I can.

“As a team, we are super excited for the derby game against Tigers and can’t wait for the challenge that it will bring.
