Women’s NPL and Leagues Season Launched

The women’s game officially kicked off for the 2025 season as Football NSW hosted the official launch for the National Premier Leagues NSW Women’s and Football NSW Leagues at Valentine Sports Park today.
A total of 28 players from the two premier senior women’s competitions in NSW came together and were announced to the media with the help of Master of Ceremonies Kat Haddad.
“Our women’s leagues continue to play a significant role in progressing players, coaches and referees to the A-League and beyond,” said Football NSW Chairman Gilbert Lorquet.
“In fact, over 80 players from the 2024 NPL Women’s NSW were signed by A-League clubs for the current season: an incredible testament to the quality of our competitions and the success of our participating clubs.”
A number of the NPL Women’s NSW’s prominent players including APIA Leichhardt FC’s Ashlie Crofts, Bulls FC Academy’s Elizabeth Grey, Illawarra Stingrays’ Siobhan Edwards, Macarthur Rams’ Lola Sossai, Mt Druitt Town Rangers’ Emily Kos and UNSW FC’s Allira Toby were just some of the players on display promoting the 2025 season.
One of the legends of the women’s game, former NSW Sapphire and Matildas star Catherine Cannuli was also in attendance and spoke highly on the important role these elite Football NSW competitions play in the continual development of the female game.
It’s set to be a busy year on the broadcast front with Football NSW’s female competitions being live streamed once again on YouTube in 2025, with every NPL Women’s match set to be shown live, free and on demand.
Weekly Match of the Rounds for Football NSW League One Women’s will continue to be broadcast in 2025, in addition to the Sapphire Cup Semis and Final, all of which will feature expert commentary.
