National Premier Leagues NSW Women’s Premiers Sydney University swept all before them last year but ran out of steam in the semi-finals and missed the chance to do the double.
Sydney Uni have been a dominant force in women’s football in the last five plus years that it is hard to place them outside a finals place, even with several changes to their squad.
The biggest name missing is 2022 NPL NSW Women’s player of the year Rola Badawiya, who jumped ship to the NWS Spirit but has enjoyed game time with A-League Women’s side Sydney FC.
Recently announced as the new Central Coast Mariners A-League Women’s coach, Emily Husband is at the wheel again and will try to steer her troop towards another Premiership with a somewhat younger squad.
Even with the changes, there are still some quality players names on the list, Annabel Martin, Gabby and Max Peak and Bianca Galic to name a few.
The Uni squad have signed Margaux Chauvet from Icelandic side KF Reykjavik. Rojin Polat (SD Raiders), Sophia Varley (Manly United) and Football NSW Institute graduates Olivia Lysiak and Alexia Saltirov will also call Uni home in 2023.
Keep a look out for some talented Under 18’s youngsters who have been added to the senior squad with Tess Quilligan one to keep an eye on this season.
