The 2022 National Premier Leagues NSW Women’s Grand Finalists fell at the final hurdle last season, but you can bet that the Northern Tigers will return with a vengeance in 2023.
Coach Jake Stephenson and his team will feel they deserved so much more from last year’s Grand Final, in particular after losing it in penalties. If there is one team that gets up after getting knocked down, it most definitely is the Tigers.
They have lost their inspirational captain for the 2023 season with Maddie Bart hanging up the boots, no doubt a major loss not just to the Tigers but competition.
They have made some eyebrow raising signings with Armenia international Claudia Cholakian putting pen to paper after leaving Sydney Olympic.
The rest have come from far and wide, Rebecca Lake arrives from Canterbury United in New Zealand, Caitlin Doeglas arrives from Perth FC, Jade McAtamney from Newcastle Olympic, Gemma Woolley from the Gladesville Ravens and unattached Jessie Wharepouri has also signed.
Major re-signings include Ash Brodigan, Shay Evans and of course Izzy Gomez, while Stephenson will still look to add some A-League Women’s experience to this strong squad.
