The Northern Tigers National Premier Leagues NSW Women’s team have had the lucky opportunity to visit Japan on a preseason tour.
Jake Stephenson’s team arrived in Okinawa last Monday where they were welcomed by the local Yaese community with a tour opening ceremony.
It’s a special opportunity for 19 players along with Stephenson and club technical director Jason Eagar.
The preseason tour will see the team play in four friendly matches against local Japanese teams as they prepare for their NPL NSW Women’s season due to kick off in a month’s time.
Last season’s grand finalists have been training in a state of the art facility in Yaese, Okinawa and according to the club’s Facebook page are impressed with the facilities.
“We are very grateful for this amazing opportunity and feel extremely privileged to be able to use such a professional facility,” Stephenson stated.
Along with training hard, the team has had the opportunity to explore the local culture and customs.
“The team has been working hard in training and have also been enjoying the beautiful Japanese culture in their days off,” Stephenson ended.
The Northern Tigers kick off their campaign on Sunday, 12 March at North Turramurra Recreation Area against the Illawarra Stingrays.
