Bankstown City Lions ready to roar in 2023

After a much-improved 2022, Bankstown City Lions are back and ready to go one step further in the new season under the tutelage of Matt Costantini in the National Premiers Leagues NSW Women’s competition.

The squad looks very similar to that of the previous season with a lot of familiar faces back at Jensen Park and finals football is most definitely a realistic goal.

Captain Liana Danaskos will lead the side again along with key players from last year Steph Ambrose, Baxter Thew, Tiana Jaber, Alexia Karrys-Stahl, Georgia Plessas and Daisy Arrowsmith.

They’ll be strengthened by their Liberty A-League Women’s stars also once their season concludes including Brianna Edwards, Olivia Price and Paige Hayward.

Costantini has added a few quality players to his squad including defender Jess Frampton from Sydney Olympic, Trudy Camilleri from SD Raiders, Isabella Volkonovski from NSW Spirit, Sabine Montenegro from the Northern Tigers and Rochelle Borromeo.

All eyes will be on Hannah Bacon who arrives at Jensen Park from Danish club Aarhus Gymnastikforening and will be expected to add experience and finesse to the Bankstown midfield.
