Sydney University SFC snap up Heyman
In an exciting coup for the National Premier Leagues NSW Women’s competition has come the news that league highflyers Sydney University SFC have recruited Matildas ace Michelle Heyman for the remainder of the season.
The 32-year-old will be yet another welcome addition to Alex Epakis’ squad who are currently leading the rebooted competition by a solitary point over second placed Sydney Olympic.
Capped over 60 times with the Matildas, Heyman will team up with some pedigree on the Uni squad list with the likes of captain inspiration Taren King, Julie-Ann Russell, Rachael Soutar, Tori Tumeth, Clare Wheeler, Kendall Fletcher, Nicole Flannery and Tiana Jaber just some of the talent on show at the club.
Heyman’s presence will no doubt boost the Uni squad’s confidence even further as the ex-Sydney FC, Central Coast Mariners, Canberra United and Adelaide United W-League star will be hoping she can bring back her glory days scoring goals and creating chances for her new club.
A Shellharbour girl born and raised, Heyman did play in NSW’s top tier competition with the Illawarra Stingrays in 2008 and in 2016.
Heyman has been working overtime in getting her body fit and ready for one more crack at playing top level football and what better way to showcase her amazing talents once again with a quality Sydney University SFC outfit.
Sporting the number 26 on her back, Heyman could make her highly anticipated debut against a red-hot Football NSW Institute squad this Sunday at Arlington Oval.
