The 2019 season was a year where it seemed the North West Sydney Koalas just never reached their true potential.
A team with quality all over the park, fell short of finals football due to a lack of consistency, something coach Gerry Gomez will need to act upon this season.
Gomez’s top priority is to promote young footballers through and get closer to the top five.
“Our main objective this season is to improve on our 2019 position on the competition ladder (7th).”
One thing the you feel at Christie Park is a real family atmosphere every time you enter the grounds on game day.
“One of our major strengths is the unity and football culture we posses throughout the club and the environment we have created.”
A few personnel changes have changed the team’s dynamic but Gomez sees the silver lining in the situation.
“We have a smaller squad than what we had in previous years but what that gives is opportunities to rising stars.”
One important part of the Koalas 2019 line up that will be missing in the new season is Chilean international goalkeeper Romana Parraguirre, a great loss for Gomez’s squad.
The Koalas travel to the Champions in round one in one of the toughest possible fixtures to open the season.
